Vietnamese Students Win 6 Awards at World's Largest Robotics Competition
Vietnam sent 12 robotics teams to compete in the prestigious VEX Robotics World Championship 2024 in the United States from April 25 to May 3, clinching spots in the Top 10 across all competitions and bringing home six coveted prizes, local media reported.
"Vietnamese students dominated the top ten positions, traditionally held by teams from the U.S. or China," assessed STEAM for Vietnam, a nonprofit organization founded by overseas Vietnamese students and engineers.
VEX Robotics stands as the most advanced and widely used robot building program in education today. In 2018, the VEX Robotics World Championship was Guinness World Records-certified as the largest robotics competition globally.
This year marks Vietnam's second participation in the tournament. In 2023, the Vietnamese team secured fifth place and brought home five prizes.
To qualify for the U.S. competition, all teams had to excel at the national level, organized by STEAM for Vietnam, the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Vietnam, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology earlier in 2024.
