Vietnamese Embassy Supports Flood Victims in Cambodia
The Vietnamese embassy in Cambodia has joined hands with the Overseas Vietnamese Association to launch an urgent support campaign for Vietnamese people severely hurt by recent floods in the neighboring country. The embassy has sent 5 tons of rice and more than 260 packages of instant noodles to 12,000 households in a move to help them cope with the floods. The floods have swept over 16 provinces along the Mekong River and the Great Lake region in Cambodia since early this year, claiming 61 lives with 43 children. Accordingly, more than 90,000 houses were underwater, over 10,000 households were forced to evacuate and nearly 60,000ha of rice crops were totally damaged. Statistics showed that among a total 12,000 flood-hit families, 7,000 are in Kandal province and approximately 2,000 others in Pray Veng province.
