Vietnam has won the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon), a robotic contest among more than 20 countries of the Asia-Pacific, for the fifth time since 2002, after beating Hong Kong in the finale in Indonesia on Sunday [August 23]. The team representing Vietnam, Hungyen Techedu, originally known as FR1 from the Hung Yen University of Technology and Education, was the winner at the national robot contest in Vietnam in May. The team has won over Egypt, Kazakhstan, Japan, and Indonesia before facing a team from Hong Kong. The ABU Robocon is an Asian Oceanian College robot competition, founded in 2002 by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. In the competition, robots compete to complete a task, which is chosen by host country each year, within a set period of time. With this year’s topic "Robominton-Badminton RoboGame," the contest has attracted 19 teams from 18 countries and territories. (Robocon.tvri.co.id Aug 24, Vtv.vn Aug 23)
