Vietnam Urges to Tighten Control over Vaccination amid Rising Violations

The Ministry of Health has requested concerned agencies across Vietnam to boost management on the vaccination activities after a series of wrongdoings were found recently, causing worries for local people.
The ministry urged health departments and other agencies to inspect clinics that conduct vaccination under the national expanded programs and services on immunization. The clinics were asked to boost vaccination safety and closely supervise post-inoculation reactions as well as raise capability of health workers. At least three children have been reported to be vaccinated against measles, rubella and mumps with expired Trivivac vaccines in the central province of Phu Yen. Violated medical workers had been suspended or dismissed from their work. The violations include vaccine appropriation and use of expired vaccine, triggering worries among parents who had their babies vaccinated as the insufficient shots and expired vaccine are said to have no preventive effects.
