Vietnam to Spend $71.87M to Upgrade Hanoi Pediatrics Hospital by 2015
The Vietnamese government has approved to spend an estimated VND1.5 trillion ($71.87 million) on upgrading and expanding the Hanoi-based National Hospital of Pediatrics from now till 2015. The move aims to meeting the increasing demand of local residents during the period, the Tien Phong newspaper reported Mar 17. The facility is one of few hospitals in Vietnam that are able to carry out complicated surgery cases, including transplants of liver, kidney and bone marrow. Set up in 1969, the hospital, which is the country’s leading pediatric hospital, provides medical checkups and treatment for 390,000 patients and conducts more than 6,000 surgeries a year.
