Vietnam Southern Province Fines 200 Environment Polluters Year-to-Date
Authorities of Vietnam’s southern province of Dong Nai have imposed a total fine of VND3 billion ($153,800) fines on more than 200 firms and individuals for discharging wastewater into the environment so far this year. Several companies had to pay more than VND100 million/time for the wrongdoing, such as Diing Jyuo Industrial Co., Ltd in Tam Phuoc Industrial Park (IP), IL Kwang Vina Co., Ltd in Nhon Trach 1 IP and Gia My International Co, Ltd. Some other polluters have been even fined two a year, including Hong Dat Industry Co, Ltd, Kenda Rubber (Vietnam) Co., Ltd in Ho Nai IP and IL Kwang Vina Co., Ltd. More than 90% of total volume of wastewater in Vietnam has not yet been treated so far, causing serious environment pollution. The Vietnamese government has issued a decree to assess damages to the environment, find out and punish polluters to better protect the environment.
