Vietnam South Province Plans $19.23M for Clean Water Projects by 2015

Authorities of Vietnam’s southern province of Vinh Long will spend VND400 billion ($19.23 million) on clean water supply projects from now until 2015. The projects will focus on building and upgrading tap water supply stations and expanding operations of existing ones in rural areas, aiming to to better living conditions of local residents. Currently, the province has 62% of its rural households using tap water and 24% of those having hygienic latrines. The Vietnamese government earlier set a target to help 90% of its population to enjoy tap water by 2020 and 100% by 2025. (Nhan Dan – The People Oct 14 p7)
