Vietnam, Russia Enhance Bilateral Ties in Science, Education
A delegation of Russia’s Ministry of Education and Science led by Deputy Minister Larisa Efremova visited Vietnam last week, seeking to enhance bilateral cooperation in science, technology and education. During their stay in Vietnam, Deputy Minister Efremova and his entourage worked with Deputy Minister of Education and Training on the draft of the inter-government agreement for establishing the Vietnam-Russia University of Technology. The university will be developed from the current Hanoi-based University for Military Technology. The signing of the agreement will be made during the visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Russia in May. The two sides also agreed on numerous measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in education and training, including teaching Russian language at local schools, transferring Russian education programs and research to Vietnam. Russia pledged to provide 100 more higher education scholarships for Vietnamese this year. Vietnam and Russia set up comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012. (chinhphu.vn Apr 18)
