Vietnam Reports 72,500 Hungry Households in May

Vietnam is estimated to have recorded 72,500 hungry families in May, with 307,700 starveling people, down 24.2% and 23.2% on year, respectively, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSP) said. Most of the households are mainly in rural remote mountainous provinces, central coastal areas and central highlands region. The government and organizations at all levels have provided nearly 14,000 tons of food and VND3.8 billion ($183,600) for the needy people since beginning of the year. (GSO May Edition)
