Vietnam Reports 6,600 Dengue Fever Cases in Jan-Feb
Dengue fever attacked 6,600 Vietnamese people in the first two months of 2011, claiming four lives, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said. The central highlands recorded the highest number of such cases during the period among regions, followed by the southern and the northern regions. Dengue fever affected 3,900 Vietnamese in Feb, including two deaths, experts said. Last month, viral hepatitis affected 451 local people while 30 others have suffered from typhoid, raising the total number of patients between Jan and Feb to 697 and 37, respectively. The country also identified 107 A/H1N1 flu patients and an additional 665 HIV/AIDS sufferers during the months. (GSO Feb Edition)
