Vietnam Reports 20,600 Hungry Households in Jan-Jul: GSO
Vietnam is estimated to have recorded 20,600 hungry families between Jan and July, with 92,800 starveling people, down 21.6% and 24.1% on year, respectively, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSP) said. Most of the households are mainly in rural remote mountainous provinces, central coastal areas and central highlands region. The government and organizations at all levels have provided nearly 16,900 tons of food and VND9.2 billion ($446,600) for the needy people so far this year, including 400 tons of food in July.
