Vietnam Records Third Successful Fetal Heart Intervention

On July 15, Tu Du Hospital in Vietnam’s southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City announced the successful birth of a baby who underwent fetal heart intervention, marking the third time a baby in Vietnam has been born healthy following such a procedure for a severe congenital heart defect.

Previously, after diagnosing the fetus with a severe congenital heart defect, doctors monitored the pregnancy for two months before performing the intervention at 35 weeks gestation.

The surgery was completed successfully in over 40 minutes, and both mother and baby are in good health.
