Vietnam Ranks 4th among Five Regional Countries for English Proficiency
Vietnam ranks 4th out of five regional countries for English proficiency in a survey conducted by JobStreet.com in the Southeast Asia. In the JobStreet English Language Assessment (JELA) with the participation of 615,000 participants from five countries namely Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam, the number of Vietnamese people get high scores is 74%, compared to 95% in the first country – Singapore. Vietnam has paid significant attention to English in education sector and recruitment but the results remain low. As a result, more than 50% of students need to take extra English courses while only 3% of students have international English certificates.
