Vietnam Quang Binh: 15 Rare Wild Animals Released back to Wild
The Centre for Rescue, Conservation and Creature Development under the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park Management Board in the central province of Quang Binh released 15 wild animals into the park on September 25.
They are eight northern pig-tailed macaques (scientifically known as macaca leonine), two impressed tortoises, one Indian crested hawk-eagle, one Burmese python, one red junglefowl, one crested porcupine, and one oriental ratsnake (Ptyas mucosa). Some of them are listed as endangered, rare, and precious forest species.
These wild animals were voluntarily handed over by organizations and individuals to the authorities, which then transferred them to the center for caring, nurturing, and rehabilitating behaviors.
Since early 2024, the center has received and rescued 47 animals, releasing 17 back into their natural habitat. It is now home to 73 wild animals.
