Vietnam Possesses 20.7M Tons of Rare Earth Reserves: Minister

Vietnam has large rare earth reserves, at around 20.7 million tons, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh reported to National Assembly deputies on June 4.

Of the total, the Ministry Natural Resources and Environment has already assessed 2.7 million tons and about 18 million tons have not been evaluated yet.

Although the reserves are huge, the exploitation and processing of rare earths have not been comprehensively studied, Minister Khanh noted, stressing the necessity to exploit rare earths for the domestic chip and semiconductor industry and exports. He also called for attracting investments and technology transfers related to the field.
