Vietnam PM Approves UNDP-granted Human Rights Project
Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a non-refundable project costing $1.2 million funded by the United National Development Program (UNDP) to help raise capacity of human rights protection in the Southeast Asian country. The project is expected to help raise the management capacity of state agencies in implementing people’s fundamental rights. The UNDP’s project aims to boost implementation of international conventions on human rights which Vietnam has signed. Vietnam ratified many international treaties on human rights protection but has been criticized for its weak implementation. (Chinhphu.vn May 3, Dau Tu Tai Chinh – Financial Investment May 7 p2)
