Vietnam Plans to Free Tuition for Secondary Level
The Vietnamese government has asked the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Finance to formulate a report on offering free tuition for students in secondary level, state media reported. This is one of the contents specified in the Resolution of the Government's regular meeting in September, which has been announced by the Government Office. Previously, in a conference held by the Ministry of Education and Training in August 5, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam also mentioned the issue of offering free tuition for students in secondary level. In addition, the government plans to free tuition for ethnic minority children under age 5 in preschools in extremely difficult areas. Currently only students in elementary schools are exempt from tuition fees. Students in other school- level must pay tuition monthly. (vietnamplus.vn Oct 14)
