Vietnam Launches IECD-funded Project to Support Small Businesses

The European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) and the Social Development Training Center (SDTC) of Vietnam have launched a project to support small entrepreneurs in Ho Chi Minh City. Entrepreneurs will receive training in the basics of business management. In addition to classroom sessions, trainers regularly visit the workplace of the trained entrepreneurs. This is an opportunity to review the tools and adapt them together to the professional reality of the entrepreneur. After training, they receive four follow-up visits. Currently, more than 90% of domestic firms are SMEs. Despite their significant contributions to the country’s socio-economic development, they remain vulnerable to ever changing and badly thought out policies, experts said.
