Vietnam, Laos Strengthen Cooperation in Forest Management, Protection

Agencies of Vietnam and Laos have signed a cooperation agreement to enhance forest management and protection along their shared border, state media reported.

The agreement, signed on July 31 in Sekong province in Laos, involved collaboration between the Forest Protection Sub-Department of Thua Thien-Hue province and the Forest Inspection Sub-Department of Sekong province.

Under this agreement, both sides will strengthen their efforts to manage and protect forest resources, share information, and work together to combat illegal activities such as logging, poaching, and the trafficking of forest products.

They will also enhance inspections and monitoring of timber and wildlife exports and imports across the border, and prevent forest destruction and encroachment in border areas.

Additionally, Vietnam and Laos will seek international support for joint projects to conserve endangered wildlife species and enhance biodiversity.
