Vietnam Intensifies Care for AO Victims
The Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA) on July 13th held the third emulation congress for AO victims, uniting the affection and responsibility in caring for the victims. Attending the congress, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai recognized the making and realization of policies towards AO victims, as well as humane hearts of domestic and foreign organizations and individuals for the victims. She urged sectors and agencies to continue to coordinate with each other to carry out synchronous solutions in further raising the awareness of all classes of people on the AO calamity, and disseminating outstanding organizations and individuals who make great contribution to caring for AO victims. In the future, VAVA will continue to support the lawsuit of victim Tran To Nga in France, support draft laws on assisting Vietnamese AO victims in the US, coordinate Korean and American AO victims, and reinforce the international front in AO victims’ struggle for justice. There are over 4.8 million people exposed to AO, including three million AO victims. In addition, tens of thousands of people infected by AO have contracted fatal diseases and died of the diseases, while millions of people and their children are deformed and live in disease and poverty caused by the toxic chemical.
