Vietnam, Indonesia Join Hands in Clean Water Management

The Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) and the authorities of Indonesia’s South Sumatra province signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Palembang city on June 22 to cooperate in the management of local clean water, local media reported.

Acting Governor of South Sumatra Agus Fatoni said that the two sides discussed further the potential for bilateral water cooperation as well as the management of drinking water. He stressed that it is important to continue pursuing such cooperation and expanding it to the areas of human resources and technology as well as other aspects.

Apart from the signing of the MoU, the local authorities accompanied the Vietnamese delegation during a visit to PT TSM in Palembang, one of the regional government-owned drinking water companies.

For his part, VWSA Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Diep expressed his hope that the VWSA’s visit to South Sumatra would lead to better management and provision of clean water.
