Vietnam Hopes for GIZ’s Further Support in Natural Disaster Prevention
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep has proposed the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) continue its support to Vietnam in natural disaster prevention and other fields in the coming years, local media reported.
Mr. Hiep made the proposal at a commemorative medal awarding ceremony on June 4. The ceremony honored Mr. Christoph Erich Wilhelm Klinnert, director of the Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Program (MCRP) project at GIZ, for his contributions to agriculture and rural development in Vietnam.
Mr. Hiep also expressed his hope that GIZ’s projects will focus on areas of Vietnam’s agriculture sector, such as improving forest quality, reducing emissions in agricultural production, as well as activities related to climate change and disasters, among others.
For his part, Mr. Klinnert showed his desire for GIZ to continue being a reliable partner of Vietnam in ensuring livelihoods and resilience against disasters and climate change.
