Vietnamese Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan worked with Dr. Tran Thi Giang Huong, director of the Division of Programs for Disease Control at the World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific, in Hanoi on July 17 to seek to enhance bilateral cooperation, local media reported.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the Regional Framework for Reaching the Unreached in the Western Pacific in 2022-2030, the best practices and progress of anti-malaria strategies, experiences in fighting dengue fever, and measures to improve primary healthcare systems.
Ms. Huong said that the WHO will continue to support Vietnam in containing COVID-19 and other future pandemics. She added that the organization has worked with Vietnam proactively to help the Southeast Asian country receive mRNA vaccine production technologies.
Minister Lan, for her part, hoped the WHO to prioritize its cooperation with Vietnam in ameliorating health-related legal frameworks, disseminating global standards to Vietnam, and improving the health of Vietnamese people. (Suc Khoe Doi Song, Health Ministry)
