Vietnam Hanoi Spends VND103B More to Build Houses for Poor People
Authorities of Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi have decided to spend an additional VND103 billion ($4.9 million) to help build and repair houses for poor families this year. Of the sum, VND75.6 billion would be used for supporting the poor in 27 districts to build houses while the rest VND28 billion would be entrusted to the Bank for Social Policies to make housing loans available at low interest rate. Earlier, local authorities agreed to spend VND94.5 billion to assist the building of houses for 3,780 local poor households, of which VND18.9 billion is contributed by the Hanoi Fund for the Poor. In 2009 and 2010, Hanoi spent over VND257 billion on supporting the building and repairing of 7,467 houses for the needy people.
