Vietnam Hanoi Oks to Build $46.36M Waste Treatment Complex
Authorities in Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi have approved a VND969 billion ($46.36 million) project on building a waste treatment complex in the outlying district of Soc Son, the Lao Dong newspaper reported. The facility, to be built on a 737,300-sq.m site in three communes of Nam Son, Bac Son and Hong Ky communes, will help treat waste for the inner city and Tu Liem, Thanh Tri, Gia Lam and Dong Anh suburban areas. Under the project, landfill areas will occupy 328,425 square meters while industrial waste treatment area will cover on an area of 172,784 square meters. Once completed in 2016, the complex with a daily capacity of 2,000 tons will help covert waste into compost fertilizers and recycled materials, aiming to reduce over 60% of the buried waste volume in Hanoi a day.
