Vietnam Hanoi Expands “Sister Hospitals” Model to Bolster Local Health
The Department of Health in Vietnam’s Hanoi has introduced a pilot "sister hospitals" model, pairing Xanh Pon General Hospital with medical facilities in Ba Vi district at the district and commune levels, local media reported.
This initiative aims to enhance district-level healthcare by providing comprehensive support from higher-level hospitals. The support includes developing and transferring technical expertise, improving human resources, and refining hospital operations and medical treatment processes.
The project designates four hospitals to serve regional functions, namely Hanoi Heart Hospital, Hanoi Oncology Hospital, Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, and Xanh Pon General Hospital.
In the first six months of 2024, Hanoi's hospitals conducted over 4.1 million medical check-ups and treatments, while its medical centers provided care for over 1.3 million people.
From 2021 to 2025, Hanoi has invested in healthcare infrastructure in districts and Son Tay township, funding 198 projects from the city's budget. These projects include nine health centers, 11 general clinics, and 178 medical stations, with 106 completed and the rest in progress. (Vietnam Plus)
