Vietnam Govt Oks Demark-funded Education Support Project by 2015

The Vietnamese prime minister has approved a $730,000 project on supporting fine arts education at primary schools funded by the Danish government from now through 2015, the Thoi Bao Ngan Hang newspaper reported Aug 26. This is part of a culture cooperation program between the two countries during the period, aiming to encourage creative thought and awareness development for children. The project will focus on perfecting new teaching method for local teachers, and help the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training reform textbooks for fine arts at primary schools in 2015. The beneficiaries are fine art teachers at primary schools and those from pedagogy departments of fine arts of pedagogy universities and colleges nationwide. Denmark has pledged $10 million to help Vietnam improve labor hygiene and safety in the 2011-2013 period, with an aim to raise corporate social responsibility which was considered worldwide as a comparative advantage for companies, especially in retaining workers.
