Vietnam Govt to Help Poor with Health Insurance

The Ministry of Health has proposed that the Government raise financial assistance for people living near the national poverty line so they can take part in health insurance. The support increases to 70% of the total cost from 50% by 2012. Students will receive a 50% subsidy, up from 30 per cent. Nearly 90% of people living near the poverty line nationwide have not accessed health insurance, according to the Health Insurance Department. (Vietnam News Sept 16)
