Vietnam, Germany Share Experience in Environment Planning
The Vietnamese University of Natural Sciences has joined hands with the German Academic Exchange Service to hold an international conference on environment, changes in land use and environment observation in Hanoi. During the event, German scientists shared their knowledge about planning systems and tools for environment observation, especially for developing countries like Vietnam. This was a good chance for Vietnamese scientists to learn from their German counterparts, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Linh Ngoc said, adding that the Ministry would support environment observation planning to ensure environmental protection in Vietnam. The event was one of the activities to be held to boost cooperative relations, creating a premise for scientific research in universities and institutes of Germany and Vietnam. Vietnam has lost at least 1.5%-3% of its gross domestic product (GDP) to environmental pollution that has been rising rapidly for many years, experts warned. (vov.vn Oct 14)
