Vietnam Firm to Build $14.42M Waste Treatment Plant in South
Vietnam Green Environment Company has got a license to build a VND300 billion ($14.42 million) waste treatment plant in the southern province of Tay Ninh. Located on an 18-ha site in Go Dau district, the facility is designed to have a daily capacity of 300 tons of waste. Once completed in late 2012, the plant will help treat waste from Trang Bang and Bourbon-Hoa industrial parks and Phuoc Dong Boi Loi industrial, urban and services zone. This is expected to become the first modern sewage treatment plant to be built in Tay Ninh. Currently, untreated waste is a pressing issue in Vietnam with 40% of toxic waste are not properly treated and the rest is being buried and recycled illegally, threatening the environment and human health, experts warned.
