Vietnam Expects to Complete ADB-, JICA-funded Expressway in 2025: Exec.
Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) is striving to finish the construction of Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway, funded by funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in 2025, said Mr. Dang Huu Vi, director of the VEC’s Southern Expressways Management Board.
Mr. Vi noted that a section of the expressway running through southern Dong Nai province is set to get a technical opening by the end of this year, adding that VEC is looking for investors for Phuoc Khanh bridge over Long Tau river.
The construction of the 57.8-kilometer expressway was kickstarted in 2014 and was initially expected to be opened to traffic in 2019. However, it has not yet been completed due to various reasons.
The project has a total investment of VND31.32 trillion ($1.3 billion), including VND13.65 trillion from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), VND11.97 trillion from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the rest from the local government.
