Vietnam Disburses 37.3% of Target in Poverty Reduction Program by End-Jul

By the end of July, Vietnam disbursed nearly VND3.1 trillion ($129.17 million) in the National Program in Poverty Reduction this year, or 37.3% of the full-year target, local media reported.

Such disbursement rate was the lowest among the three national programs this year. One of the main reasons for the stagnation is the numerous guidance documents that create problems.

The National Program on Poverty Reduction in 2021-2025 is allocated at least VND75 trillion, per the National Assembly (NA)’s Resolution 24. In 2023, the country is aiming to reduce the rate of multidimensional poverty by 1.1 percentage points (ppts) to 2.93%, cut the poverty rate at districts by 5.62 ppts to about 33%, and trim the rate at ethnic minorities by 3.2 ppts to 17.82%.
