Vietnam Desires to Strengthen Education Ties with Russia: Minister

Vietnam wishes to further cooperate with Russia in multiple fields, especially the education sector, said Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son.

The minister made his statement while hosting Mr. Pavel Anatolyevich Shevtsov, deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo (The Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation) in Hanoi on October 3.

During the talks, Minister Son affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, identifying Russia as one of its most important foreign policy partners.

Appreciating Russia’s great support for Vietnamese education, he hoped to expand cooperation between universities of both nations. Minister Son also thanked the Russian side for providing 1,000 scholarships to Vietnamese students in the 2023-2024 academic year.

In reply, Mr. Pavel Anatolyevich Shevtsov emphasized that Vietnam is one of Russia’s key partners in education and training. He noted that the Russian government would offer more scholarships in state public administration to Vietnamese candidates, besides such popular majors as medicine, fine arts, and paintings.

This October, Vietnam will receive 38 Russian students to study in the country, with 25 in Hanoi City and the remaining in Ho Chi Minh City, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia.
