Vietnam Deputy PM to Visit Russia on Sept 14-18 to Boost Education Ties

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan will visit Russia on Sept 14-18 in a bid to strengthen the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership, especially in education and training, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said. During the five-day stay in Russia, Mr. Nhan is scheduled to work with his counterpart Olga Golodets and pay courtesy visits to other Russian senior leaders, the MoFA announced at a regular press conference in Hanoi on Sept 5. Mr. Nhan, who is expected to resign from the government post after being elected yesterday to head the Vietnam Fatherland Front, will visit some Russian educational and research institutions, the MoFA added. Vietnam and Russia have close ties in education and training. A large number of Vietnamese officials and scientists graduated from Russian universities. During the past few years, Vietnam has sent hundreds of students to Russia to study nuclear sciences as the communist country strives to develop its manpower capacity in the field for a plan to build ten nuclear power plants by 2030.
