Vietnam Danang Approves $272M WB-funded Project on Sustainable Development

People’s Committee in Vietnam’s central city of Danang has approved a project costing $272 million with 74% funded by the World Bank (WB) to help develop the city sustainably.The five-year project will focus on improving environment in urban areas, boosting capacity of urban planning and urban transport management. With five components, the project will cover improvement of wastewater treatment system; operation of bus rapid transit (BRT); and road building.Danang, one of Vietnam’s five biggest cities and a well-known tourist destination, is facing an overloaded infrastructure system due to high urban population growth rate and an increasing number of tourists.
