Vietnam Boosts Education, Training Cooperation with Laos

Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan started a five-day visit to Laos on April 21 with an aim to boosting bilateral ties in the field. Luan held talks with Lao Education Minister Phankham Viphavanh on the same day to review their ministries’ past cooperation and work out plans for 2011 to 2020. The two sides agreed to boost cooperation in graduate and postgraduate training in the immediate and long terms. The country will also boost the exchange of visits by delegations in many fields and coordinate in implementing a project to enhance the quality and efficiency of cooperation in education and human resource development till 2020. They will facilitate the exchange of artistic and sports activities in order to develop the traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. Currently, there are almost four million Vietnamese living, working and studying in 100 countries and territories worldwide, including 250,000 in Laos and Cambodia. (www.vietnamplus.vn April 21)
