Vietnam Attends 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan participated in the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the Environment in Laos’ Vientiane on August 23, state media reported.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nhan fanned concern about “the double crisis” facing ASEAN and the world, namely climate change, environmental pollution, and biodiversity loss.
He proffered three Vietnam’s proposals to deal with the crisis, including (i) strengthening a united and strong ASEAN to handle the mutual challenges; (ii) prioritizing equal and comprehensive transitions towards the goal of net-zero emissions, energy transition, and plastic waste management; and (iii) promoting cooperation to mobilize assistances in institutions, techniques, and finance.
The deputy minister also underlined that Vietnam vows to cooperate with ASEAN and developing partners to contribute to global efforts and shared goals, thus contributing to a sustainable and climate change-adapted ASEAN community.
