Vietnam Asks Laos to Boost Cooperation in Water Resources Management

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has called on Laos to enhance coordination to work together and with international organizations to tap the water resources in a sustainable manner. Mr. Dam made this call at a meeting with Lao Prime Minister Thoonglun Sisoulith on the sidelines of the 2nd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Bangkok on Oct 10. Dam took the occasion to thank Laos for discharging water in the Mekong River to help Vietnam tackle drought and saltwater intrusion in the southern region. He asked Laos to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese investors in the country. In turn, Thoonglun Sisoulith expressed his pleasure to witness the developments in the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two neighbor countries. He urged ministries, localities, enterprises of the two countries to spare no effort to realize signed agreements and strengthen information and experience sharing. (baochinhphu.vn Oct 10)
