Vietnam Achieves World-Class IVF Techniques: Health Official
Every In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) technique available globally, from traditional IVF to advanced IVF ICSI, is now practiced in Vietnam, said Dr. Dinh Anh Tuan, director of the Maternal and Child Health Department at the Ministry of Health.
The expert gave this evaluation during an event on IVF solutions in Ho Chi Minh City on September 10 while noting that IVF is one of the fastest-growing fields in Vietnam’s healthcare sector.
IVF has played a major role in reproductive assistance, bringing happiness to families and contributing to balanced birth rates in areas with low fertility rates, such as Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast, and the Mekong Delta, Dr. Tuan highlighted.
He emphasized the importance of child care when noting that as IVF becomes more common, there will be a rise in multiple births, preterm deliveries, and low birth weight babies.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said that infertility affects approximately 7.9% of married couples in Vietnam, with 40% of cases attributed to male factors, 40% to female factors, and 20% to both or unknown causes.
