Vietnam’s Hanoi Aims for Zero Malaria Deaths in Community by 2025

Vietnam’s Hanoi has set the goal of no deaths due to malaria in the community during the 2024-2025 period in its recently issued plan, local media reported.

Under the latest plan for preventing the resurgence of malaria after its elimination and controlling common parasitic diseases during the 2024-2025 period, Hanoi also aims to eliminate secondary transmission of malaria, sustain the successful results of malaria elimination, and reduce the incidence of common parasitic diseases.

Other objectives include reducing the infection rate, intensity, and burden of helminthic diseases transmitted from animals to humans in epidemiological areas.

It also aims to decrease the infection rate, intensity, and burden of soil-transmitted helminth diseases, with a focus on high-risk groups such as children aged 12 to 60 months, primary school students aged 6 to 11 years, and reproductive-aged women from 15 to 45 years.

Simultaneously, the plan emphasizes strengthening and enhancing the quality of the system for preventing and controlling malaria and common parasitic diseases in the region.
