Vice President Presents Gifts to AO/Dioxin Victims in Ninh Binh
Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh on August 2 presented gifts to victims of Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin in the northern province of Ninh Binh. The beneficiaries included families of La Dinh Anh and Vu Tat Thang in Yen Mo district and Pham Luong Ngach in Yen Khanh district. Sharing the losses and pain with the AO victims and their families, Vice President Thinh asked local authorities and relevant agencies to provide further support and improve the livelihoods of the beneficiaries. She presented gifts and VND 50 million ($2,240) in cash to each family on the occasion. At a working session with Ninh Binh province’s Association of Victims of AO/Dioxin the same day, the Party official praised achievements made by the association in caring for and protecting the interests of the AO/Dioxin victims and their families in the locality. She stressed the need to mobilise more resources and organise practical activities to support the AO/Dioxin victims. Ninh Binh is now home to around 35,470 victims of AO/Dioxin. Since its establishment in 2006, the province’s Association of Victims of AO/Dioxin has raised over VND 22.3 billion ($ 1 million), which has been used to build and repair houses, and provide health check-ups and treatments for the beneficiaries.
