UNICEF is ready to continue supporting Vietnam in child care, protection, and other developmental issues, affirmed UNICEF’s new Representative in Vietnam Silvia Danailov.

Meeting Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet in Hanoi on August 7, Ms. Silvia Danailov expressed her commitment to working closely with Vietnam’s government and relevant agencies to ensure the success of her mission.

She plans to collaborate with other United Nations bodies to effectively implement programs that support Vietnam’s pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The UNICEF official also praised Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, noting the upcoming 50th anniversary of Vietnam-UNICEF cooperation and the 35th anniversary of Vietnam’s ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 2025.

For his part, Deputy Minister Viet acknowledged the critical role UNICEF has played in child protection and care in Vietnam, highlighting the organization’s long-standing support.

He called for enhanced cooperation to help Vietnam meet its socio-economic goals and international commitments, including collaboration on initiatives such as International Play Day and the National Action Program on Women, Peace, and Security.

He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) would support the UNICEF Office in Hanoi and assist Ms. Danailov in fulfilling her responsibilities in Vietnam.
