UNDP, EU, USAID Grant $4M for Vietnam Green Growth

The UN Development Program (UNDP), the EU and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have provided $3.9 million worth of non-refundable aid to Vietnam’s green growth programs. This is within the EU-UNDP Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS), which aims to strengthen technical and institutional capacities at the country level and facilitate the integration of public and private sector activities to address climate change. The funding will enable Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment to check and supervise the strategies and help relevant authorities insert green growth programs in policy making. Vietnam, one of the five countries affected the most by climate change, has received roughly $1 billion from foreign countries and organizations for its climate response programs since 2009.
