U.K. Supports Vietnam Check Business Laws
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the government of U.K. have signed an agreement to assist a project to check Vietnam’s business laws, the Quan doi nhan dan newspaper reported. The VCCI will work with the Government Office and experts to check 16 laws with strong effects on business and investment environment, such as business law, investment law and trade law, said Hoang Van Dung, Deputy-Director of VCCI.
“This is an activity to perfect the business laws of Vietnam, and help promote the sustainable development of the business community and raise the competitiveness of Vietnam economy in the integration period”, said Deputy Ambassador Kate Harrison said.
Relevant reports and information will be posted on the website of VCCI, www.vibonline.com.vn, and will be discussed in seminars in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by associations, businesses, experts and lawyers. The final report, as well recommendations on improving business laws, will be submitted to the prime minister and relevant agencies for approval. The U.K. has provided non-refundable aid worth £380 million to Vietnam through bilateral program since 1992. In addition, £19 million in debt relief has been granted to Vietnam since 2006. The European country will gradually reduce ODA for Vietnam next years, from now until 2015 as the Southeast Asian country is reaping many remarkable achievements Ambassador Antony Stokes earlier said.
