Thailand Supports Flood Victims in Vietnam Amid Calamity Losses

The Thai Government has donated a total of THB3 million ($100,000) to help victims hurt by the recent floods in Vietnam. Thai Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul handed over the money to the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang in Bangkok on Oct 18. Ambassador Thang expressed his thanks to the Thai Government and people and offered his sympathy towards many Thais who are also hit by the worst floods in Thailand in decades. Statistics by the National Steering Committee for Floods and Storm Control showed that the floods have killed 48 in the Mekong Delta region and inundated more than 80,000 houses and 21,000 hectares of rice. Meanwhile, the central region is also suffering from rising floods which have left ten dead and three missing so far. In addition, the Thai Government on Oct 18 presented THB3 million to help Cambodia overcome the consequences of the recent floods.
