Supporting Ethnic Minority Student Education

The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has promulgated a circular on supporting ethnic minority children to study. Accordingly, children from three to five years old in poor families of several ethnic minority groups in the provinces of Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Nghe An and Kon Tum who are studying in public educational establishments will be given monthly support. Specifically, children under three to five years will be provided support equal to 30% of minimum wage; pupils in primary schools, 40%; pupils at primary boarding schools, 60%; pupils at secondary schools, 60% and a scholarship which equals 100% of minimum salary; and students at vocational schools, scholarships equal to 100 % of minimum wage per month.
