Spanish-Funded Project Helps Vietnam Reduce Poverty
The government of Spain has provided nearly EUR2.695 million for Vietnam to implement a capacity building project for some key agencies. The project, which was launched in Hanoi on October 11 by the Spanish Embassy in Vietnam, will help Vietnam realize the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), with a focus on reducing poverty and building institutions. Spanish ambassador to Vietnam, Fernando Curcio, said that his country wants to support Vietnam’s development process, especially as it deals with the challenges of the new era. The project is part of a bilateral agreement on boosting science, technology, and cultural cooperation in the 2011-2014 period. Over the past five years, Spain has granted Vietnam more than 150 million euros in official development assistance (ODA) loans channeled through the United Nations. (vovnews.vn Oct 11)
