Spain NGO to Grant $3.2M to Vietnam Poor Children by 2016
Plan International, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Spain, has pledged to grant $3.2 million to support needy children in Vietnam’s central highlands province of Kon Tum by 2016. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed by the provincial People’s Committee and the NGO representatives yesterday [Jan 10]. The funding will help improve awareness of poor and disadvantaged children of their rights and potential, especially in meeting essential living needs, while improving necessary skills. Over the past 15 years, Kon Tum province has received $25 million in non-refundable aid through 197 projects from 38 organizations in 14 countries and territories worldwide. These projects mainly focus on education, healthcare, social welfare and rural infrastructure in disadvantaged areas. Set up in 1937, Plan International is aimed to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life of deprived children in developing countries, through a process that unites people across cultures and adds meaning and value to their lives.
