South Korea Investors Helps Bring Clean Water to Mekong Delta Province
The Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long will cooperate with investors from the Republic of Korea (RoK) in building and upgrading its water facilities. To this effect, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked between the two sides in Vinh Long city on April 28. Within three years since the signing, the RoK companies will provide technical advisory services for the building of clean water supply facilities and small-scaled waste water treatment stations in the province’s rural areas. The project aims to raise the rate of rural households accessing water from centralized stations by 60% 2015 and 100% by 2020. At present, there are 106 centralized water stations and 6,000 UNICEF-funded wells in Vinh Long rural areas. (Vietnam News April 28, Thoi Bao Kinh Te Viet Nam – Vietnam Economic Times April 29 p3)
