S.Korea Funds $4.7M Technical Training Project in Vietnam Province

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has approved to grant $4.7 million to a technical training project in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Tri. The move aims to train skilled workforce for the local industry sector and for the region as well, the Nong Nghiep newspaper reported Aug 15. The project will focus on upgrading Quang Tri Vocational Training School, purchasing equipment and training human resources. The agency will send experts to the locality to provide technical consultancy for Vietnamese personnel during the implementation and management of the project. Last year, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) also funded 11.5 billion won (approximately $10 million) for building Vietnam-South Korea Technological College in the northern province of Bac Giang.
KOICA plans to fund six or seven more projects of this kind in the future. South Korea pledged to provide $270 million in official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam this year. (Nong Nghiep Viet Nam – Vietnam Agriculture Aug 15 p20)
